Action Man EP

South London singer-songwriter Hector Bennett serves up their debut release as Bath Days. The Action Man EP is a charming record full of wit and energy. Across the record Bennett turns in a series of leftfield synth-pop songs characterised by chirruping electronics and deft lyrical turns of phrase. Comparisons to The Magnetic Fields come readily on entries like ‘Lilypad To Lilypad’, a connection made all the easier by both Bennett and Stephin Merritt being blessed with rich singing voices. Elsewhere ‘Superdome’ has a fun home-brewed Kraftwerk vibe. The limited-edition cassette also includes some lovely artwork courtesy of Hannah Wilson. All in all this is a highly promising opening salvo from Bath Days.
