Katie Gregson-MacLeod returns with her long-awaited debut album, Albatross, released via Matt Maltese’s Last Recordings on Earth.

Albatross opens a new chapter after a period of major change: stepping away from her major label deal, returning to the Scottish Highlands, and rebuilding her relationship with music and songwriting from the ground up.

The title comes from Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, where the albatross shifts from a sign of good fortune to a burden worn around the neck. It is a sharp, fitting image for a record focused on wanting, and the strange weight of getting exactly what you asked for.
