Downliners Sect were one of the great English R&B groups to emerge from the 1960s beat boom, sitting alongside fellow blues-driven acts like The Yardbirds, The Pretty Things and The Rolling Stones. Their early sound was all basic R&B, delivered with real grit and bite.

As critic Richie Unterberger put it, “The Sect didn't as much interpret the sound of Chess Records as attack it,” with a rough-edged finesse that made The Pretty Things seem almost suave. It is a sharp summary of just how fierce this band could be at their best.

Lost for more than 50 years before resurfacing in 2010, this legendary second intended EP was recorded in 1964 as a follow-up to the much sought-after live set At Nite at Great Newport Street. Raw, primitive and gloriously snarly, it is perfect for fans of Brit R&B and Billy Childish.
