Chalk / Flint

Isobel Anderson presents her new offering, Chalk / Flint, inspired by the white cliffs of South East England. Due to tendinitis, Isobel stored her musical vision in her mind, resulting in a hauntingly ambient single called "Flint Shingle".

This track reflects the Sussex landscape and carries a nostalgic, regretful sentiment. "Feed Me" is a dark yet playful song, inspired by Glasgow artist Rachel McClean's experimental video piece. Another track, "4284", delves into issues of body autonomy and abortion rights in Northern Ireland and the Republic.

The album also features ethereal and electronic tracks like "Effortless Pain Relief" and "Chalky White". Lauren Laverne describes the album as "beautiful, shimmering and wonderful", while Jamie Cullum praises its "real, effortless simplicity". BBC compares Isobel's voice to Beth Orton, noting its easy, effortless beauty.
