Coagulating Darkness

Hellripper presents their 2017 debut studio album, Coagulating Darkness, a cult black thrash/speed metal masterpiece from the quickly rising UK titan. Inspired by old-school legends like Venom, Kreator, Sabbat [JPN], and Metallica, James McBain formed Hellripper in 2014. With the release of the debut EP 'The Manifestation of Evil', the Scottish band made a clear statement of hellish destruction with their electrifying brand of blackened thrash.

Following the momentum of the debut EP with a series of split releases, 'Coagulating Darkness' was released in 2017 to media acclaim. Metal Hammer hailed Hellripper as "Scotland's King of the arcane mosh," and the band garnered attention throughout Europe & the US. This was followed by the EP - 'Black Arts & Alchemy', before signing a deal with Peaceville, resulting in 2020's 'The Affair Of The Poisons'.

For a debut album, 'Coagulating Darkness' showcases a startling maturity & clear sense of direction throughout its eight-track duration. McBain single-handedly crafted & recorded a set of blistering, timeless metal anthems in a relentless high-speed attack of ferocious riffing & masterful soloing.
