Cold Waves of Color Volume 4

Cold Waves of Color 4 is the fourth volume of the electronic compilation series featuring tracks from the 1980's Color Tapes label. Some of these tracks are being released for the first time, making this collection an essential document from the 80's UK cassette underground scene.

The majority of tracks from these UK garage cold wave bands utilized synthesizers, drum machines, and sequencers such as EMS VCS3, Minimoog, Korg MS-20, Roland Juno 6, SH-09, and TR-808. These instruments played a crucial role in the development of electronic music in the UK during that era.

As with the other volumes in this popular series, Cold Waves of Color 4 includes great examples of cold wave, minimal wave, and synth electronics created by obscure British bands like Disintegrators, Mystery Plane, Berserk In A Hayfield, and Lives of Angels. These tracks were all recorded between 1980-1985, showcasing the vestiges of the 1980's UK cassette underground scene.

The CD edition of Cold Waves of Color 4 comes with a fat booklet containing a full-color reprint reproduction of issue three of Color Tapes' own in-house "Purple Twilight" fanzine from 1985. This fanzine features articles on Insane Music, Space Brothers, and Lives Of Angels.
