Mario Schifano wasn't a musician but a visionary exponent of Pop Art, a sort of italian Andy Warhol who, at the time, wanted to integrate his work with a group, providing psychedelic visuals to support his live performances. The meeting between Schifano and the four musicians later dubbed "The Stars of..." resulted in a handful of live concerts, a 45 rpm single, and this album: at the time, undoubtedly, almost no one in Italy had ever heard anything like it, unless they'd flown to England to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of "Swingin' London."
Dedicato a... opens with a long piece lasting almost twenty minutes, an acidic, at times delirious jam session that gives an idea of the group's live potential. The second half of the album consists of five shorter, more thoughtful songs, but still in line with the sound of the opera. It was an isolated experiment, unparalleled in Italy at the time.
