Title

“Lesser Gods” is the first single from Los Angeles based solo artist Ghost Atlas’s new album – Dust of The Human Shape – out January 26th. The brainchild of Jesse Cash – known more commonly from his guitar & vocal work in metalcore giants ERRA – Ghost Atlas serves as a softer more intimate look into his songwriting. “Lesser Gods” is the first new music released from Ghost Atlas in 4 years and ‘Dust of The Human Shape’ is the first album since 2017’s ‘All Is In Sync’ which garnered critical acclaim and 12 million streams as an independent release. “Lesser Gods” is partly about the way we mold our identity or worldview out of an amalgamation of influences, to make sense of the world to sustain our being here. It is written from a perspective of a diminishing baseline of dopamine brought on by a decade of overstimulation. As the highs become harder to feel, what is lacking is supplemented more with substances, sex, external validation, or whatever means to throw the kitchen sink at a problem, attempting to sculpt novelty out of ruin to substitute the emptiness it leaves, only to further perpetuate numbness. It is a lifestyle trajectory propagated by all my flawed heroes; authors and auteurs who’ve helped me find traces of meaning along the way. I invite their voices into my narration like lesser gods revealing the path, but those voices are just my own ideations of grandeur, detached from the reality of the humans I am making ideas out of; humans with their own heroes’ voices in their heads, all of us leading one another into the dark with the best of intentions, but none of us having it any other way” (Jesse Cash).
