E.S.T. Live '95

The Esbjörn Svensson Trio, or e.s.t., remains one of the most important and influential European jazz bands of the last 20 years. In 1999, the three Swedes made their international breakthrough with From Gagarin’s Point Of View, beginning a unique international career.

e.s.t. Live 95 proves the trio had found its distinctive sound early on. Founded in 1993, the band was still largely unnoticed outside Sweden when these recordings were made in 1995 at venues in Mölndal, Aarhus and Uppsala.

Much of what set e.s.t. apart was already here: the cohesion and drive of their playing, catchy themes that never become clichéd, and music shaped by influences such as Thelonious Monk and Keith Jarrett, often infused with the forward momentum of rock. This early work is now available in a limited edition on transparent green vinyl.
