Released in America in June 1980, Millie Jackson’s For Men Only is a sharp, funny and brilliantly sung concept album. Like Caught Up (1974), Still Caught Up (1975) and Get It Out’cha System (1978), it digs into the battle of the sexes in and out of the bedroom.

Side one flows through spoken word links, with This Is Where I Came In, This Is It, If That Don’t Turn You On and I Wish That I Could Hurt That Way Again segueing together. It almost plays like a stage production, full of wit, humour and Jackson’s wonderfully direct point of view.

With artwork showing Jackson being fawned over by three attractive black male models, this is a standout set. Long unavailable on vinyl, Ace Records finally bring it back into print for devoted fans and a new generation ready to hear Jackson in peak vocal form.
