Freedom North

First vinyl reissue of the much-loved only album by Freedom North, recorded by Brian Chater’s Summerlea and released on the Aquarius label in 1970.

Based in Montreal and known at various points as Freedom, Freedom of Choice and finally Freedom North, the band had Canadian chart success in 1970 with Doctor Tom (#2 on RPM’s Top 50 Canadian Chart) and Losing You (#47 on the MAPL Top 50 Canadian Chart), and toured with bands including Mashmakhan and April Wine.

The album moves between psychedelic rock, hard rock, acid rock and late-’60s pop-rock, with soaring vocals from Franki Hart. This reissue includes four bonus tracks: two B-sides and two previously unreleased tracks making their vinyl debut, plus a four-panel insert with the band’s history and lyrics.
