From There / To Here – UK / US Recordings 1974-1982

Bridget St. John’s post-Dandelion career from 1974 to 1982 is captured in this 3CD set. The collection features 17 previously unreleased tracks, including alternate versions and previously unheard compositions.

After releasing three classic albums on John Peel’s Dandelion imprint in the early 1970s, Bridget St. John needed to find new outlets as the label ceased operations in 1972. She released the album Jumblequeen on Chrysalis and eventually found herself drawn to New York City. In 1976, she relocated there and became part of the city’s underground folk music and singer-songwriter circuit.

In New York, Bridget explored different influences and sounds, collaborating with various musicians and experimenting with new approaches to her songs. Recently, recordings from this period have been discovered in Bridget’s tape archive. She has selected 17 previously unheard highlights for this collection, complete with her own contextual sleevenotes.

The set also includes Jumblequeen and 1995’s Take The 5ifth, which features material from the same New York era. From There / To Here offers a comprehensive overview of the decade following Bridget St. John’s time with John Peel and Dandelion. It serves as a perfect companion to our previous box set covering those years.
