2012 better be ready. hannah yadi, or yadi for short, isn't like other pop musicians. poised, petite and powerful, yadi knows exactly what she wants when it comes to her music, creating forward-thinking, instantly catchy calls to arms that reflect everything life has thrown at her so far. her songs are all built around incredibly rhythmic, almost tribal drum tracks and huge marching beats that herald soaring, deftly created melodies. 'the guillotine' is a brutal image with a positive message, that of destroying anything that is bad. it is set within the metaphor of royalty and class and performed over a delicious mix of rolling piano stabs, military-style drumming and yadi's swollen vocals. elsewhere, 'paper rose' deals with the fragility of human kind over rolling drums, wonderlust strips everything back to showcase that incredible voice, while 'heartbroken' is an ecstatic explosion of disintegrating synths, popping beats and a chorus the size of everest. yadi's creativity further manifests itself in her love of creating art work - watercolours, pen and ink imagery - which means that her meticulously crafted music has the visual style to match.
