Happening Songs

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Happening Songs, the debut album by Dionysos, is finally being issued on (white) vinyl for the very first time.

Recorded in 1996, the record captures the early days of a band still in their rawest form, already driven by a singular stage energy and a boundless imagination. Entirely sung in English, ‘Happening Songs’ unfolds a free and inventive sonic universe where indie rock, dark humour and surreal visions intertwine. Tracks such as ‘Wet’, ‘Polar Girl’ and ‘Screamin’ Like An Egg’ sketch the foundations of a poetic, strange and deeply endearing artistic world that would become Dionysos’s signature.

Long regarded as a cult album, passed from stage to stage and through word of mouth, it now returns in a brand-new vinyl edition, faithful to its original spirit, inviting listeners to rediscover the initial spark of a project that has since become essential.

Thirty years on, Happening Songs remains the opening chapter of a unique artistic journey: inhabited, unruly and profoundly free rock.
