Harmony In My Head - The Music That Inspired The Genius Of Brian Wilson

Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys shaped Pet Sounds from a rich mix of influences: the close harmony of The Four Freshmen, the sweep of George Gershwin, and the counterpoint of Johann Sebastian Bach. This set traces that musical path with the records and works that helped spark one of the defining albums of the 1960s.

By 1966, Wilson had stepped back from touring to focus on more ambitious writing and production, building Pet Sounds as a complete song cycle. Famously conceived in response to The Beatles' Rubber Soul, it became an album that deeply impressed them in return, with Paul McCartney calling it “the album of all time”.
