Heaven/Earth

The Free Design were one of the few vocal groups to come through the glittering psychedelic circus with something timeless intact. Rooted in the Age of Aquarius yet never trapped by it, the four-piece left a deep mark on the generation that followed.

Released in 1969, Heaven/Earth stands as a cornerstone in their catalogue. Three decades on, the band found a new audience through the enthusiasm of artists including Cornelius, Beck, Stereolab and crate-digger extraordinaire Madlib.

These days, The Free Design are rightly spoken of in the same breath as The Beach Boys and The Carpenters, and Heaven/Earth remains a beautiful reminder of why their music still connects.
