Both albums unavailable for over 50 years. Most tracks new to CD. Two of the most collectable reggae albums from the mid-70s.

By 1975, dub was in full swing, having developed into a fully-fledged reggae sub-genre over the preceding few years. Over this same period, the popularity of the melodica sound, pioneered by Horace Swaby aka Augustus Pablo, had steadily grown, with accomplished singer/pianist Joe White firmly established as one of the instrument’s most skilled exponents.

His proficiency as a melodica player was exhibited on the recently re-issued Trojan LP, ‘Ja-Gan’ (DBCD172), although frustratingly for White, leading Jamaican jazz pianist, Leslie Butler, was erroneously awarded the artist credit for the collection.

The London-based company had intended to make amends for the error by releasing the second of White's Harry Johnson-produced melodica-dub albums, as well as Butler’s fine instrumental set ‘Ganja’, but Trojan’s dramatic fall into bankruptcy in the summer of ’75 resulted in both LPs being dropped from the company’s release schedule.

Over half a century later, these two exceptional albums are finally made available on this essential 2-on-1 set, enabling fans of classic melodica, dub and instrumental sounds the chance to acquire them at a fraction of the price of the original albums. Mastered directly from the original Trojan tapes, they never sounded better!
