The connection between Mad Professor and Yabby You reaches back to 1993’s In Ariwa Studios, a showcase-style meeting between the Guyanese-born south London producer and one of Jamaica’s most distinctive spiritual voices.

Vivian Jackson, the “Jesus Dread,” moved through landmark reggae history, from King Tubby’s console to later Blood and Fire reissues, before his death in 2010. On paper, his roots vision and Ariwa’s analogue electronics feel unexpected, but the fit is real.

Both artists work from a place of deep, self-directed roots production, and that shared ground gives this release its pull. Here, standout cut Jahovia arrives on 12" as ARI 350, backed with Mad Professor’s Fake News Dub on the flip.
