Charlemagne Palestine returns to Black Truffle with KKKAAARRREEENNNIIINNNAAA, capturing a 2025 London performance with close collaborators Daniel O’Sullivan and Oren Ambarchi. Across six decades, Palestine’s search for the ‘golden sound’ has moved through piano, church organs, carillon bells, the Moog Sound Lab, and a deeply rooted vocal practice.

This trio reimagines Karenina, Palestine’s 1997 ‘magic song’ for falsetto voice and harmonium, made in Paris for his recently departed black labrador. Here, O’Sullivan runs three cassette copies of the original, drifting out of phase as Palestine’s organ and live voice build a dense, devotional psychedelic charge.

Ambarchi’s Leslie guitar and O’Sullivan’s viola, synth and vocals are vital throughout, shaping a work full of motion, detail and sacred atmosphere. With cover art by O’Sullivan, KKKAAARRREEENNNIIINNNAAA is a powerful piece of modern ritual music.
