Recorded the day after Nat Birchall and the group cut Spiritual Progressions, this live session happened in the same studio space, only this time with an audience in the room. You can hear that energy straight away: warm, open and totally locked in.
Two pieces from Spiritual Progressions return here: Lokumbe, titled for the great trumpeter Hannibal Marvin Peterson, and Sun in the East. Both make fascinating companions to the studio versions.
The set is completed by Kalaparusha Arha Difda, named after the deeply spiritual tenor saxophonist and previously recorded on Nat Birchall's The Infinite, plus a fiery take on Song to the Divine Mother from Invocations. The live ambience only deepens the feeling, with the group in stellar, deeply empathetic form throughout.
