Long Way Home

With its gauzy melodies, sparse production and liberal use of the vocal distortion button, it's easy to see why the music of 19-year-old Stockport-raised Lapsley has drawn comparisons with James Blake's future soul. But she also has richly textured vocals and a winningly frank personality, making this uncommonly mature debut stand out in an overcrowded arena. Bitingly beautiful single 'Hurt Me' is a particular highlight.
