Monster EP

Maceo Plex lands on Radio Slave’s Rekids with the Monster EP, a sharp three-track set from the longtime DJ, producer, and head of Ellum Audio and Lone Romantic. Active since the 90s, he keeps pushing his sound forward, blending electro, techno and house into something unmistakably his own.

Opener Flute Jam moves with broken beats, subtle chords and widescreen synths, while drifting vocals and textured bass give it real depth. Baby Monster, featuring Baby Monsta, twists electro and techno together with fizzing low end, dancing chords and a futuristic atmosphere.

Closing track Cold Flow leans into breakbeat, trap-style vocals and finely tuned groove science, carrying a soulful, melancholic edge. Following this year’s The Plan EP on Lone Romantic, also with Baby Monsta, this Rekids debut finds Maceo Plex exploring yet more new ground.
