Toy Dolls released their single hit Nellie the Elephant in 1982. The children’s song written in 1956 by Ralph Butler and Peter Hart is given a bouncy new lease of live and has been a staple pop oi chant ever since. Toy Dolls were formed in 1979 in Sunderland, England and quickly signed to Volume Records. Fronted by the lightning fingered Olga the band are famed for their breakneck covers of standards as well as their own catchy pop punk riffs. Even after almost 40 years they still perform and recording songs.
