40th anniversary re-issue of Howard Jones’ debut single. Pressed on white vinyl. The A side features the 2018 remastered original 7” single version of ‘New Song’. The B side features a previously unreleased live version of ‘New Song’ recorded in Hamburg, Germany in 2022. The artwork for the picture sleeve and labels recreates the design used for the single’s original release in 1983.

On 15th August 1983, WEA Records released the debut 7” single by their new signing Howard Jones. Entitled ‘New Song’, this perfect piece of pop music reached No.3 in the UK singles chart and No.27 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart when released the following year in 1984.

It was the beginning of an amazing and stellar recording career for Howard Jones that celebrates its 40th anniversary later this year. To mark this momentousoccasion, Cherry Red are releasing a very limited white vinyl 7” single version of Howard’s debut single.
