At twilight on the southern coast we encounter, at guitar and piano, a lone veteran of art rock and experimental sound, his tale winding backward to Slapp Happy and the days when prog dinosaurs roamed the earth. In séance with AKA and Friends’ atmospheric accompaniment, he breathes the infernal and the eternal back into his work of decades, the songs winding Anthony’s avant/pop traditions into a darkly radiant coil of folky chamber music for the ages.
