Perfect Execution

Illusive Bristolian beatmaker Claude Cooper returns with a visceral blast of psychedelic hip-hop on the limited edition 7" single Perfect Execution, made in aid of War Child UK. For this one, he brings in Joe Talbot of Idles and Billy Fuller of BEAK>.

Cooper and Talbot feel like a natural fit. Perfect Execution draws on hip-hop and post-punk in equal measure, with raw, dissonant production meeting breathless, confrontational vocals. It carries the spirit of Public Enemy while staying rooted in Bristol’s own bruised musical history.

Talbot’s lyrics pull no punches, moving through images of crowds, chains, hanging and the hollow comfort of slogans. The repeated line “No pain no gain” lands somewhere between protest chant and bitter irony. Joe says, “It’s an honour to work with some beautiful Bristol heads on this track for Warchild. All is love”.
