Precious Is My Love / Strawberries Don't Know Cherries

Kent brings out two rare gems from Jon Lucien’s much-loved early 70s period, when his singing and songwriting were really opening up. Both tracks first appeared on a limited CD Lucien released in 1999, then on a Kent vinyl LP earlier this year.

This is the second single, issued after strong demand from DJs and collectors. Precious Is My Love is classic Jon Lucien: romantic, uplifting and melodically rich, carried by a smooth mid-tempo groove.

Arranger “Beau” Ray Fleming, who worked on these songs around the time of Lucien’s masterpiece Search For The Inner Self, also brought in Strawberries Don't Know Cherries, an obscure song by Jimmy Williams and Estell Levitt previously known only from an acetate. It reveals a tougher, funkier side of Lucien.
