Psychick Youth

This album looks back on Thee Temple Ov Psychick Youth, or TOPY, from people who were actually there. Often called an anti-cult cult, it is remembered here as a place of real connection, good times and lasting friendships.

Tied to Psychic TV and Genesis P-Orridge, TOPY came out of Britain’s industrial underground as part occult network, part performance art project and part countercultural movement, blurring music, ritual, media manipulation and social experiment.

The press linked it to Aleister Crowley and William S. Burroughs, while failed books and documentaries rarely got beyond the mythology. This record separates lived experience from second-hand stories, revisiting old themes with fresh eyes and ears after the mission was terminated.
