Pure Confusion

King Ayisoba returns with his seventh album, Pure Confusion, recorded and produced by On-U-Sound founder Adrian Sherwood. It is a meeting of two singular musical minds, bringing together Ayisoba’s raw, rooted sound with Sherwood’s adventurous studio touch.

One of Ghana’s most distinctive voices, King Ayisoba is the world’s foremost player of the kologo, a homemade two-string lute made from calabash and goatskin. His songs are fiercely political and socially observant, delivered across three voices, including the voice of his grandfather that possessed him as a child.

Adrian Sherwood, known for work with Lee “Scratch” Perry, Mark Stewart, Horace Andy, Sinéad O’Connor, Nine Inch Nails and Depeche Mode, adds dubby, psychedelic detail while keeping things vibrant, live and spontaneous. A bold, collaborative record that lets both artists shine.
