smog's beautiful 1996 album should be in any fans collection. one of his quietest most assured albums, which although full of the usual callahan moody introspection is of of his most accessible. highlights include the dark 'blood red bird', the country of 'i was a stranger' and the velvets style gem 'ex-con'. wonderful!
