Revival

Different Strokes For Different Folks present the first ever vinyl reissue of Al Basim's legendary Revival, originally released as a private press in 1979. Drawing together out-there guitar jams, spiritual jazz, kosmiche-soaked rock and Middle Eastern ambience, it is a singular, deeply immersive record.

Revival captures Baghdad-born musician Basim Al-Hashimi's 1978 trip to the U.S., where Arabic traditions met the '60s and '70s rock he loved growing up. Guided by his melodic guitar playing, the music moves through psychedelic passages, meditative ambience, jazz-inflected grooves and uplifting progressive motifs.

Licensed directly from Basim Al-Hashimi, this long-awaited reissue also includes an interview with the artist about his U.S. experience and the making of the album, plus photos from his personal archive. Despite several attempts, Revival has never been reissued before.
