During the course of his brief life, Ritchie Valens fused different kinds of music together to form his own remarkable style of rock & roll He left a lasting impact with his classic rocker "La Bamba". A forefather of the Chicano rock movement, Valens' recording career lasted just eight months. He was only 17- years old at the time of a plane crash that took his life along with Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper.
Ritchie Valens, vocals & rhythm guitar, plus: René Hall (lead guitar and sixstring bass guitar), Carol Kaye (rhythm guitar), Buddy Clark or Red Callender (bass), Ernie Freeman (piano), Earl Palmer (drums and woodblock). Produced by Bob Keene. Recorded at Goldstar Studio and Bob Keene's home studio, Los Angeles, California, between June and September 1958.
