Dødheimsgard released their album Satanic Art in 1998, showcasing their dark and psychotic extremity in the Norwegian black metal scene.
Formed in 1994 by Vicotnik and Aldrahn, the band initially had a raw and melodic black metal sound, with their debut album even featuring Fenriz of Darkthrone on bass. As time went on, Dødheimsgard's sound evolved into a more schizophrenic and abstract style, becoming known as visionaries of the mid-90's Norwegian Black Metal movement.
Satanic Art marked a significant turning point for the band, with compositions that were less traditional and more twisted in structure and delivery. Alongside Vicotnik and Aldrahn, the lineup for this album included members from other notable Norwegian bands like Aura Noir and Fleurety, with studio assistance from Garm of Ulver.
This edition of Satanic Art includes 2 bonus tracks: "Black Treasure" and an alternate version of "Symptom".
