Schubert Dip

EMF formed in late 1989 in Cinderford, Forest of Dean, with lead singer James Atkin, guitarist Ian Dench, keyboardist Derry Brownson, bassist Zac Foley and drummer Mark Decloedt. Their name stood for Epsom Mad Funkers, taken from music journalist David Quantick’s description of New Order fans in the NME.

They exploded onto the global stage with their blend of dance, rock and pop, and their debut album Schubert Dip, featuring I Believe, Lies, Children and the hit Unbelievable, captured that genre-defying sound.

The 2LP deluxe edition marks its 35th anniversary with the original album on LP1 and eight remixes of the four hit singles on LP2, selected by the band. The 4CD edition expands to 57 tracks with remixes, B-sides, live versions, previously unissued demos, and a 44-page booklet with rare imagery, lyrics and new sleeve notes with quotes from Ian Dench and James Atkin.
