Presented here in their entireties are two fantastic albums in the swing jam session style, Session at Midnight: Jazz Reunion at Melrose (Capitol T-707) and Session at Riverside (Capitol T-761). Both showcase first-rate names, such as Coleman Hawkins, Harry "Sweets" Edison, Benny Carter, Willie Smith, Charlie Shavers, Plas Johnson, and Babe Russin, playing well-known standards along with originals created at the sessions as the base for splendid improvisations.

A blues track, also featuring Hawkins and Shavers, has been added as a bonus.
