Sheppard: Salt Catchers

After acclaimed work with Trio Libero, standout quartet albums Surrounded By Sea and Romaria, and a celebrated trio run with Carla Bley and Steve Swallow, Saltcatchers finds Andy Sheppard opening a new chapter.

Here, the English saxophonist is joined by Italian pianist Rita Marcotulli and French bassist Michel Benita, two longtime musical connections making their first recording together as a trio with Sheppard.

Built from eight new Sheppard originals and one piece by Carla Bley, the album moves with melodic grace, delicate harmony and thoughtful interplay. Recorded in March 2025 at Auditorio Stelio Molo RSI in Lugano, Saltcatchers was produced by Manfred Eicher.
