Shimmer

Language of Flowers return with the startling comeback single Shimmer. After signing to Portland’s Shelflife Records on the strength of a four-track demo in 2003, the Belfast indie dreampop outfit became a much-loved staple of the London indie scene.

Their debut album, Songs About You, received critical acclaim, with reviews noting classic influences including the Field Mice, Heavenly, the Smiths, Comet Gain, the Go-Betweens and Lush. The band went their separate ways in 2007, reuniting occasionally for intermittent shows in the early 2010s.

After last year’s successful reissue of Songs About You via Daydream Records, Language of Flowers started writing again, with more emphasis on their dreampop leanings. A new album is expected in 2027. Shimmer launches a new collaboration between Shelflife and Precious Recordings of London, with artwork by Bren Sweeney and a Bentley Cooke demo for the unreleased second album on the B-side.
