new west re-release their self-created debut album. it's now remastered and includes their self-released 'microscopic metronomes' ep. one of wild moccasins' signatures is the vocal inter-play between swann and gutierrez. while swann sounds like any number of new wave-era male vocalists, gutierrez's voice is lodged somewhere between the b-52's' kate pierson and bjork. the songs are built on shimmering, expansive layers of guitar and keys, but made buoyant with danceable, swaying beats.
