Hard-rock super-group The Firm may have been a short-lived venture, but for the brief period they existed in the mid-80s they kept a tight hold on the US rock charts, scoring a pair of No 1 hits in the shape of Radioactive and All The King's Horses.
During their final US tour together, in the spring of 1986, the group stopped off in Cleveland, Ohio - fittingly, the home of the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame - to deliver a masterclass in back-to-basics rock. Proving that he'd lost none of his touch in the six years since Led Zeppelin hung up their spurs, Jimmy Page delivered riff after face-melting riff for frontman Paul Rodgers to ride, the singer sounding as versatile as he ever had during his tenure with legendary blues-rockers Free.
Anyone looking for favourites from either artist's career-making bands should check their expectations at the door - and with good reason. The Firm had what it took to stand on their own, as this for-broadcast recording amply proves.
