If The Midnight Hour name doesn’t ring a bell straight away, the music almost certainly will. Ali Shaheed Muhammad, founding member of A Tribe Called Quest, joins forces with Los Angeles composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer Adrian Younge, two artists whose work has helped define what great records can feel like.

What began as a creative partnership became The Midnight Hour, leading to their acclaimed self-titled debut The Midnight Hour in 2018, recorded to tape with a live rhythm section and full orchestra. In 2020, they were deep into a second album before the world shut down and the sessions were shelved.

Now, through their Jazz Is Dead label, those unfinished recordings finally surface as The Lost Tapes, unheard until now and carrying the spirit of a project that never stopped calling to be heard.
