It's an out and out dancefloor record but with enough left field influences and grit to stand out as something of an anomaly. Vellico are brothers Ross and Alistair Tones. Ross is best known for his work under the names Throwing Snow, Snow Ghosts and Alight. Alistair produces under the name TONES. This project is built out of a long history of writing music together and shared loves. The Pennines EP references their upbringing in Weardale in the North Pennines. Opening the EP with strong swung rhythm and develops with a monster synth arp 133G has more of a techy edge before a melodic line coupled with a pitching sub bass come to the forefront. Beck's Brew uses jazz influenced sounds to build before dropping in to a repeating vocal and a floor filling drumbeat The Peace Signal closes, lulling the listener in to a false sense of security with the lightest of chimes before dropping a dark and raspy bassline.
