To Stone / Lost Innocence

The sixth release on the ROVR and Ace Records Uprising label pairs two scarce garage recordings. The Cheques’ ‘To Stone’ combines a moody atmosphere with a rolling dance beat; the group formed among young Air Force personnel in Louisiana. The Buddhas’ only single, ‘Lost Innocence’, dates from 1967 and brings a thumping, handclap-driven sound from Bakersfield.
