Uncle

Emerging from the Olympic forests with a new album and a full bag of chanterelles, fish narc's Ben Funkhouser turns the damp melancholy of earlier work toward the light on Uncle. It is both a cry of resignation and a declaration of seniority, delivered with a clear Westerbergian pull.

Recorded and produced by Alex Farrar, these 11 tracks carry his textured rock 'n' roll touch: raw, polished and full of conviction. Without slipping into self-pity or smoothing off the edges, fish narc and band dig into the complexities of aging with sharp, well-crafted rock and powerpop.

For Funkhouser, Uncle is a culmination of years spent making punk-rooted music in the Northwest. A member of GothBoiClique, he helped shape that movement's guitar sound, while his songwriting leans toward SST, K and the DIY scene he grew up in. Previous records include WiLDFiRE in 2020, Camouflage in 2022, fruiting body [KLP295] in 2023 and frog song [KLP298] in 2025.
