In summer 2021, Geneviève Beaudoin went to Las Vegas to help a close friend start a new life. Buried within that newness was an old and widening fracture, and in that city the friendship ended. Back home in Maine, she began crafting her second full-length album as Dead Gowns.

Recorded in a farmhouse at the foot of the White Mountains with long-time partner Luke Kalloch, and produced by Sam Kassirer and Colin Lester Fleming, Vegas is a series of raw, smouldering songs that watch grief move, point by point.

Vegas Dream opens the record with bold guitars, synths, yawning drums and feathery piano. Later, New Blue looks to stay in place for a change and move on. Despite its title, Vegas belongs to the wild Maine coast: wistful, corrosive, giving and taking, and strangely graceful.
