Velvet Seas Remixed

Formed in Leiden, Kraak and Smaak have spent two decades refining their blend of funk, disco and electronic soul. Across seven albums, Oscar de Jong, Wim Plug and Mark Kneppers have built a warm, analogue sound that carries old soul into something fresh, taking them from European clubs to Coachella and American late night TV.

Written between Leiden and Los Angeles, 2025’s Velvet Seas brings Californian light, psychedelia, deep funk and a cinematic sweep into easy balance. Guests include IVAR, Berenice van Leer, Izo FitzRoy, Butter Bath, The Undercover Dream Lovers, iogi, Kosta G and Kainalu.

Velvet Seas Remixed reshapes the album through a carefully picked cast of international producers, touching British disco heritage, French touch, Brazilian disco funk, Melbourne club music and Dutch groove. Extended versions and alternate mixes give several tracks more than one life.
