What We Have Known

please note: this is not a new joanna newsom record. it is a vinyl reissue of the second track on the 'sprout and the bean' cd single (originally released in november 2004 ) - a longtime fan favourite. this is the first and only time that 'what we have known' is to appear on the venerable analogue format known as vinyl, and it's been dressed up as pretty as a picture - but a picture that plays music. the length of the song led drag city to the 12" format, all the better to appreciate the design of the sleeve. side b features an exclusive etching. all of it the elegant work of the elegant artist becca mann, whose visual artistry lent hue to the front cover of joanna's 'have one on me' album.
