4AD was founded in 1980 and built a catalogue with a strong visual identity as well as a distinctive ear for leftfield guitar music and dreamlike pop. Its history runs from Cocteau Twins, Pixies and Lush to later releases by Big Thief, Aldous Harding, Dry Cleaning and Daughter.
