Collection: Checker

Checker was the Chicago label Phil and Leonard Chess launched in 1952 as a subsidiary of Chess Records. It became an important home for blues and doo-wop, with releases by artists including Bo Diddley. Its catalogue sits right at the point where post-war Chicago rhythm and blues was finding a wider audience.
