Friends of our Youth

Friends of our Youth, formerly known as Hostile Youth, emerged from the punk scene in late 1978. The band was formed by a group of friends who shared a common goal - to escape the hardships of Thatcher's Britain and fight back against societal injustices. With Neil as the main lyricist and Dave Fane on vocals, they crafted powerful songs that reflected their experiences. Their debut track "Fight Back" caught the attention of No Future records and was featured on "A Country Fit for Heroes, Vol. 1". Despite facing obstacles with record labels, Friends of our Youth continued to play energetic gigs in their local area, gaining a loyal following among skins and punks.

Their music captured the raw essence of street punk with tracks like "Boot Boys", "Southall's Burning", and "4 Wall Life". In addition to their original compositions, they also delivered memorable covers such as Sham's "Borstal Breakout" and Exploited's "Crashed Out". Although their discography remained limited due to label constraints, their impact extended beyond borders - even making it onto a Finnish compilation album.

Featuring Neil Bowers on guitar, Martin Morris on bass, Paul Simmons on drums, and Dave Fane providing powerful vocals; Friends of our Youth left an indelible mark on the punk scene with their honest lyrics and aggressive sound. Their music served as a vivid snapshot of life during turbulent times.
