Collection: Horace Silver

Horace Silver was a Norwalk, Connecticut-born pianist, composer and bandleader who helped define hard bop in the 1950s and 60s. He began by backing Stan Getz in Hartford, recorded for Blue Note from 1952, and later formed a cooperative with Art Blakey. Song For My Father remains one of his most recognisable statements.
